Dear AVON,
I refer to your Reese Witherspoon promotion at
http://www.avon.com.au.
I also refer to the webpage
http://www.readyflowers.com.au/Flowers/Avon-In-Bloom/?fcid=527
where the Ready Flowers company represents matters which may be
in contravention of the following sub-sections of the Trade Practices
Act,
if AVON (and/or Reese Witherspoon) has not
given approval for what is published on the webpage.
TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 - SECT 53 - False or misleading
representations
A corporation shall not, in trade or commerce, in connexion with
the supply or possible supply of goods or services or in connexion
with the promotion by any means of the supply or use of goods
or services:
(c) represent that goods or services have sponsorship, approval,
performance characteristics, accessories, uses or benefits they
do not have;
(d) represent that the corporation has a sponsorship, approval
or affiliation it does not have;
Please could AVON advise if it has given approval for this Ready
Flowers promotion.
If AVON has given approval, AVON should make itself aware of the
negative publicity that can flow from such an approval.
A similar venture was immediately cancelled by Kerri-Anne Kennerley
(and others) on becoming aware of Ready Flowers facts. SEE
